Grove
A family with an old, horse-centric ranch in Chestnut Ridge. Father Umber, chief horse wrangler Juniper, and their son Wren. Also Juniper's rescue horse Luna, and Luna's new foal, Starbrite.
The most important first thing to do on the ranch was plant the family's namesake grove of fruit trees for Juniper to tend.
Umber was a big family man always ready to read you a book. The ranch needed supplemental income, so he started work as a conservationist.
Umber's fellow conservationists would meet up at various parks to chat and discuss their findings. Unfortunately at one gathering, a co-worker was struck dead by a falling metorite.
Despite hardly knowing her at all, Umber was able to insist she was taken too soon and got her life back.
Juniper and Umber had another son, Sequoia. Wren wasn't really enthused about it until he realised he had someone he could play with.
Wren left his childhood peers behind and added Horse Lover to his traits, following his mother's ranching footsteps.
The grownup Starbrite was Wren's to start training for future shows.
Little Sequoia was still a well-developed toddler when Juniper got pregnant again.
Umber has a demanding job, Juniper's ranch chores continued and Wren gave her a hand, but they managed to sit down together for a winter roast turkey.
And then the babies arrived. Plural.
Two infants was quite the disruption to what had been a stabilising family. Wren had to get his big boy boots on and pitch in to help care for them.
One twin was Rufus...
And the other Tawny.
The pressures of school, work advancement, after school scouts, aspirations, grove tending and horse care made things rather hectic.
